Steve Kennedy

Steve Kennedy's broad background includes more than 18 years as a venture capital investor, business and technology executive and entrepreneur. Kennedy has been involved in founding and managing a number of highly successful technology companies. Most recently, Kennedy helped to form and was the founding investor in Siimpel, an optics and MEMS company that designs and builds devices for mobile communications. Kennedy assembled the original team of engineers from JPL and led the company through its first 4 years of operational growth. Prior to Siimpel, Kennedy was the CEO of EpiWorks, an advanced material semiconductor spinout from the University of Illinois. Prior to Epiworks, Kennedy was the founding investor and CFO for Picolight, a leading photonic transceiver company based in Boulder, CO. Earlier, he was an investor and VP of Operations for Utilities, Inc., a water and environmental treatment company. Kennedy started his career as an engineering manager for Pfizer's magnetic oxide tape storage division.

Additionally, Kennedy has made a number of presentations at investment seminars and technology conferences on topics ranging from optical and wireless communications, nanotechnology, MEMS applications and environmental technologies.

Kennedy holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. In 2001, Kennedy received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Rose-Hulman.
